Full Cross-Platform play arrives in Rocket League.
Rocket League’s latest announcement will see the game become fully cross-platform. In a special blog announcement, Psyonix has finally announced the implementation of a cross-platform play for its users.
The announcement.

With special thanks to all of our friends and colleagues at PlayStation, we are thrilled to announce that starting RIGHT NOW, Rocket League has entered the PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program! Players on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam can now randomly matchmake with or against each other in all Online match types (i.e. Casual, Competitive, and Extra Modes).
To make sure that Cross-Platform play is enabled (it is by default), head to the “Main Menu,” select “Options” and then make sure the “Cross-Platform Play” box is checked in the “Gameplay” tab. And that’s all there is to it. You are now ready to play against gamers on other platforms across the world!
But what about cross-platform parties? In our first update this year (more information coming soon), we will release our *cross-platform *party system, which allows you to partner up with friends on any platform with the push of a few buttons.
Should you want to play with friends on other platforms before cross-platform parties release, however, you can! Just select “Play” from the “Main Menu,” then “Private Match,” followed by “Create” or “Join Private Match,” and you’re set from there.
Today’s announcement is an important one for us here at Psyonix because we know how much our community has wanted FULL cross-platform support for quite some time. It’s because of YOU, our fans, and our generous partners on all systems and services that have made this possible in the first place. On behalf of the entire team, THANK YOU for your passion and persistence as we continue to do our best to make Rocket League the best experience we can.
We’ll see you out on the field!

A Promising Future
Rocket League has a promising future. The innocent nature of the game means that there are almost never any objections to the same. It has a very low level of toxicity as well as the lack of violence is something that puts this game on the forefront.
The Game has a very high skill-ceiling and yet is fun for the casual player. The game is on par to become a headline sport for the upcoming WSOE and ELeague tournaments. Despite Cross-platform play now live on the servers, there are still limitations to the same. Psyonix developers were active in the Rocket League Subreddit answering questions.

Hiya! No cross-platform trading plans at this time, thanks bud! Psyonix_Devin.
Psyonix Corey revealed several details surrounding the cross-platform play. He was able to guide players on functionalities such as Chat, Recent players, Stay as Team etc. Lots to unpack here, here we go:
Ultimately your use cases are geared more towards friend finding and party discovery which is something we’d like to keep supporting better, but our focus for the first RocketID release is for people who know each other already and want to play cross-platform. This assumes they can share their IDs with each other using known methods e.g. Discord, Text Message. There are ways to still make it work (e.g. the Recent Players tab) but there’s definitely room for improvement for the use cases you’re asking about. Psyonix_Corey

There are no suggestions for account linking at this point in time. They have not ruled it out yet, but they will be looking into the suggestion in the near future. No plans for account-linking at this time, and thanks for the suggestion! Psyonix_Devin
