WESA to pay for the Team Manager’s flight tickets

A recent controversy in Dota2 saw Valve being targeted for lowering the number of tickets they sponsor for a Dota2 team. While a Dota2 team requires only 5 players to officially play the match, the support staff of a team is huge. Especially the coach is an important member of a team and there are several teams who falter without their coach.

Eternal Envy’s blog brought a lot of focus on this matter, with several teams joining him in the chorus of demands.

WESA has announced their intention to pay for Team Managers flights. This comes in response to Valve’s indecision at times, which might leave many teams in limbo.

Ken Hershmen :

Player support and development will always be a primary focus of what we do, and today’s initiative aligns with that vision. The teams came to us with this proposal and worked with WESA and Pro League to reach a solution that we believe works for all stakeholders. We look forward to continue working with ESL, our Member organizations and players to ensure that the future of esports remains on its current trajectory of growth.”
