Astralis win FaceIT London Major 2018

The Danish powerhouse, Astralis have won the FaceIT London Major. The finals were hyped up to be a very exciting final between Natus Vincere and Astralis. However, Astralis demonstrated their amazing individual performance as they went through with a clinical finish at the Major. Astralis has been dominating the scene for much for the past six months. While initially, their arch-rivals would be Faze Clan, they did not have any real opposition at the Major. Constantly evolving their strategies, Astralis looked extremely dominant despite dropping a few maps along the way.

Astralis win the FaceIT London Major. The final map saw Astralis pick Nuke as Na’Vi picked Overpass. Both the maps are extremely good for Astralis and Na’Vi alike. However, Astralis had a very aggressive performance throughout the two maps ensuring Na’Vi never really felt comfortable. Glaive was the MVP for the series despite being an In-Game Leader. His ability to make amazing mid-round calls has seen Astralis win rounds where they had almost no chance.

The first map – Nuke The first map was Nuke, it was Astralis’ Map pick. Na’Vi did not have any kind of momentum on their CT side constantly losing crucial rounds to Astralis. Astralis had a dominating 11-4 scoreline despite losing the pistol.

Amazing individual plays from Electronic were simply not enough for Na’Vi as they were simply unable to make an impact on Nuke. This round by Astralis where they won despite having a huge disadvantage, broke the momentum and economy for the CIS squad.

Na’Vi’s Map Pick – Overpass

Overpass looked much more promising for Na’Vi as they went about competing with Astralis in the initial rounds. But after the exchange of rounds in the early part of the half, Na’Vi seemed to lose steam. Edward and S1mple were simply unable to hit straightforward frags resulting in many crucial disadvantages for the squad.

Yet again, pulling off around win with almost no weaponry, Astralis would swing the momentum in their favour. They were able to read Na’Vi like a book often countering the Na’Vi’s playstyle with ease. They had a presence all over the map and always gained information at some part of the map or other. This information play would be crucial in rotations as well as enabling the decision-making process on the Danish squad.

Astralis won Overpass with a 16-9 win over Na’Vi and secured their place in the history books. After a dominating performance throughout the season, the Danes were able to cement their name as the best team in the world.
