Cloud9 secure $50 million Series B funding led by Valor Equity Partners.
Esports organisation Cloud9 has secured a funding of $50 million in Series B Funding round. The fresh investment round was led by Valor Equity Partners. Other investors included TrueBridge Capital Partners, Reimagined Ventures and Glassdoor founder Robert Hohman.
The new investment comes at a time when Cloud9 is looking to expand its reach. A year ago, Cloud9 has secured an investment of $25 million. The majority of this investment amount went into acquiring the Overwatch League Franchise London Spitfire as well as a slot in the League of Legends.

There has been no official confirmation about the usage of this investment. With the major expenses in LoL and OWL already over, we will see the organisation looking forth to making investments into the development of these teams.
According to sources, Cloud9 is already building a 20,000 – 30,000 seater training facility in Los Angeles. The training facility will house all of its esports teams including CS: GO, Overwatch, League of Legends and others.
Cloud9 has had a fantastic 2018 so far

Cloud9 is one of the most successful esports organisations of 2018. The team started off strong becoming the first North American team to win a CS: GO Major. It was an iconic moment for the organisation and Jack Etienne himself.
London Spitfire won the Inaugural Overwatch League adding yet another feather to CLoud9’s cap. The organization has provided its players with the best training facility often going out of their way to ensure that the players’ demands are met.
More recently the Cloud9 League of legends team made it out of the Group Stage, which is a huge achievement for the team. These results were quite significant when it comes to the organisation’s ability to secure the funding.
This funding also places Cloud9 as the only esports team to be in Forbe’s list of the Next Billion Dollar startups.
The new Training facility will not be limited to esports teams.

While the new training facility is definitely a big boost to the team’s ability to practice, it is also a means for Cloud9 to deepen their grassroots visibility. The organisation hopes to invest int he development of grassroots in esports, which is a huge untapped section in esports. In addition to this, the venue can also serve as a training facility for its players. Cloud9 has teams in various games like CS: GO, League of Legends, Overwatch, Rainbow Siege etc. The Cloud9 League of Legends teams is currently participating in the Worlds 2018.
